When does memo use and process personal data?
We know that it is very important to you that we handle your personal data carefully. Data protection is of paramount importance at memo, and we comply strictly with the statutory provisions of the Federal Data Protection Act and the Teleservices Data Protection Act when collecting, processing and using data. You can visit our website without leaving any personal data. However in some cases we do need you to provide us with data, such as:
when registering
when placing an order
when you are contacting us
when you are using your “personal area”
You data helps us to continuously enhance your purchasing experience with memoworld.com. We use the details in personal data for processing orders, for delivering goods, for checking creditworthiness and for processing payments, in order to prevent misuse of our Internet site and to inform you about orders, products, services and offers.
So that we can get in contact with you more quickly than by sending a letter, please give us your e-mail address. It goes without saying that we only use this for advertising purposes if you have specifically agreed.
What does memo do with your personal data?
On principle we do not forward your stored data to other companies for advertising purposes! We only ever use and process your address and order data for our own purposes.
First and foremost we store personal data for optimal order processing. If necessary we forward it to other companies for this purpose – for example to a supplier who will send the goods directly from their factory or to a service provider who addresses the catalogues that are sent by post. Data forwarded in this way may only be used by the recipient for carrying out their job. No other use of the information is allowed.
If there is good reason it may be necessary to exchange data with credit information companies or credit reference agencies for the purposes of checking creditworthiness. You can of course object to or revoke your agreement to the use of your data at any time. All creditworthiness checks take place in order to eliminate difficulties in payment transactions that may have a long-term effect on the retail price. So checking customer data for this purpose benefits you too.

memo protects your personal data through SSL encryption!
memo needs your personal data for various business procedures. For example, sensitive data has to be transmitted to our server while you are logging on to your customer account. To prevent this falling into the wrong hands we encrypt it with a 128-bit SSL procedure (secure-socket-layer procedure). This is currently the most up-to-date and most secure data transmission procedure on the Internet.
By using the SSL procedure, your data is made to look so different before it is transmitted to the memo server that a third party cannot reconstruct it. Furthermore, as part of this encryption procedure it is ensured that your data is sent only to the server that requests it. When your data arrives on the memo server it is then checked to ensure for completeness and integrity.
